I want to invest in an ETF – where can I do this?

You can buy ETFs from an investment dealer through a full-service or discount brokerage. Here are four things to know:

  1. You can buy ETFs any time the stock market is open. ETFs are traded throughout the day at the current market price.
  2. ETFs have ticker symbols, just like stocks.
  3. There’s no minimum investment amount.
  4. Since ETFs are bought and sold like stocks, investors must pay a trading fee (commission) to buy and sell them. These fees vary depending on the dealer and the type of account you have.
