Is it justified for a mutual fund’s MER to be 2.5%, if net return is 10%?

Thanks for your question Mike. There is no set guideline for what a MER of a mutual fund should be in comparison to the performance of that fund.  Before you buy a mutual fund, read its Fund Facts. This is the document provided to you when you purchase a mutual fund and it outlines the MER that will be paid on that fund.  Also, consider all costs associated with a mutual fund.

You can use this mutual fund fee calculator to help you compare funds and also review the 5 questions to ask yourself before you buy.
